UNDERPROOF: Creating a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for emerging musicians

UNDERPROOF is a highly unique gig produced by Happy Mag, offering five up-and-coming bands the opportunity to play alongside a massive headline act.

UNDERPROOF has been part of Happy Media since Happy Mag’s Issue 4 Launch, where 5 bands with under 500 Facebook likes were invited to play. But it was in 2019 that the idea really came to fruition, with the help of Northern Beaches Council and their youth engagement initiative, Keep A Look Out For (KALOF).

Taking the ‘5 bands with under 500 likes’ idea and throwing it into the stratosphere, UNDERPROOF booked Australian surf rock royalty Hockey Dad to play an 800-capacity show with five emerging bands from the local Northern Beaches area.

The night was a raging success, with all tickets sold out and each local band being delivered an experience they’ll never forget.
